Michael Mantai, President & Head Commissioning Authority PE, CCP, CEM, LEED AP

Michael has extensive field experience and has been commissioning complex projects for more than 20 years. A graduate of Duke University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Michael has been commissioning complex projects for more than 20 years, including nuclear and chemical, laboratory, hospitals, commercial, residential, university, educational, and other specialty facilities. He spent seven years working for the Department of Energy, commissioning new and existing systems as a facility owner. Including hands-on testing and troubleshooting of systems, he wrote extensive and detailed system operating and maintenance procedures, developed maintenance and operating staff training programs, and taught training sessions. It is this first-hand facility owner’s experience that gives him significant insight into Owner’s needs and how to meet them. He has been involved with projects as large as $200 million. He is a recognized energy efficiency and sustainability expert, with experience commissioning more than 80 LEED® projects. He is experienced with commissioning all building mechanical, plumbing, electrical power, low voltage, fire protection, and other systems.

With Micheal at the helm, System WorCx has extensive experience commissioning projects with complex and technologically advanced systems. These include work for a multitude of different facilities both large and small, LEED Certified and with applied advanced efficiency all across the Southeast and Midwest.

Mark Kohler Commissioning Authority , PE, CxA, LEED AP

Mark Kohler is a graduate of State University of New York at Binghamton with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.  Mark obtained professional registration in 1993 in mechanical engineering discipline.  Mark has 16-years experience as an IBM Semiconductor Facilities Engineer, 6-years experience as a mechanical design engineer and project manager including being a Director of a multi-discipline Engineering Firm.  He currently works as a Senior Commissioning Authority on various projects throughout the southeast.  Mark has a diverse background that includes obtaining licensure as a Grade 5 Domestic Wastewater and Grade 4 Industrial Metals Wastewater treatment plant operations.  Mark has designed and commissioned numerous sustainable projects including biomass wood chip boilers, geothermal systems, solar hot water and photovoltaic systems.  He has experience with oil and chemical containment projects with a focus on environmental protection and spill prevention.  Mark has worked on many advanced control systems and sequence of operation development to improve the reliability and performance of critical systems.

Josh D. Lane Commissioning Technician EIT, LEED AP

Josh has dedicated his career to the commissioning industry since graduation from Western Michigan University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  Over the years he has gained experience on a range of project types including both higher and lower education, healthcare, government, commercial, residential, and laboratory facilities.  As a commissioning provider and LEED Accredited Professional, Josh has become extremely knowledgeable in the application and operation of all building systems and components as well as the implementation of sustainable design practices.  He has been involved in more than 90 construction projects ranging from 10,000 to nearly 1 million square feet, more than 30 of which have pursued LEED certification.  Currently based in Chapel Hill, NC, his project responsibilities in the surrounding areas include peer design reviews, project management, field commissioning, functional testing, and LEED administration.  By working closely with building owners and operators as well and the construction and design teams, he is able to understand the dynamics of each project in order to identify specific project needs and effectively implement the commissioning process to exceed client expectations.  As a member of USGBC and the BCA, Josh continues to educate himself in the ongoing advancement of building system technologies and applications in order to remain on the forefront of the building commissioning industry.

Veronica M. Addison, Commissioning Technician PhD, LEED AP

Veronica Addison is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.  She attended graduate school at the University of South Carolina, earning a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on sustainable design. Veronica has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2005 and worked on her first LEED project in 2006. She currently works as a commissioning technician, energy modeler, and LEED consultant on various projects throughout the southeast. Veronica has been an NSF Graduate Teaching Fellow and Teaching Assistant at the University of South Carolina.  Her work also includes research at the Laboratory for Sustainable Solutions. Veronica’s previous work experience includes General Electric Power Systems.
