Project Description:
These are two LEED® Certified projects that involve six-story additions to the Duke University Business School and Law School. The buildings are comprised of high-tech classrooms and offices, libraries, and commons spaces. They feature meeting and lecture rooms with integrated audio/visual systems, and complex architectural features.
The project energy-related systems included:
- Siemens Building Automation System integrated into campus networked control system.
- Central air handling units with DDC variable air volume reheat air terminal units.
- Demand control ventilation via CO2 sensors.
- Steam to heating hot water heat exchangers for heating and domestic water.
- Pressure-powered condensate return system.
- Variable frequency chilled water and heating hot water.
- Lighting controls based on occupancy sensors and dimmers.
- Emergency power (new generator and transfer switches).
- Fire Alarm and Fire Protection systems.
- Atrium Smoke Control system.
- Telecommunications
