Phases of Commissioning: Schematic Design through Post-Occupancy

Project Description:

The goal of this office and classroom building is LEED® Platinum.  It is a new building providing office, classroom, and meeting spaces for the Botanical Garden.

The project commissioned systems included:

  • Building Automation System.
  • Ground-coupled heat pumps.
  • Energy recovery ventilators.
  • Lighting controls based on daylighting and occupancy sensing.
  • Photovoltaic system.
  • Solar water heating.
  • Rainwater harvesting.

System WorCx Scope of Work:

System WorCx was hired as a third-party commissioning firm contracted directly to the University.  Commissioning included HVAC and controls, photovoltaic electrical power, plumbing, and lighting controls.  Michael Mantai was the commissioning authority performing all commissioning activities (design reviews, Cx plan, field testing, troubleshooting, etc.).
